Whose ‘Report’: World News Or The King Of The Jews?

Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed? Isaiah 53:1

The news can be pretty scary: Natural disasters, terrorism and financial crisis are just the start of it, and some of us may even have been affected personally by what’s going on. There often feels like no escape. And just to rub things in, it can seem like the media milk these for all they’re worth and sensationalize them for all they’re worth to make their money. Fear sells.

Now, in the midst of bad news, whether global, national or personal, it’s quite possible that you’ve been tempted to bury your head in the sand. It’s a reaction that assumes ‘if I ignore it, it’ll disappear, right?!’ Not the greatest idea, but rather than burying your head, there’s a lot to say for looking UP to God who not only knows how things are going to turn out, but also cares an awful lot about you and your mindset.

It’s safe to say we all know what it’s like to be up at night worrying about tomorrow/the week/year/etc ahead. But He tells us not to listen to the world, but Himself (Matt 6:25) If you count all the persecution, rejection and the cross, Jesus didn’t have a whole lot to look forward to. Everything He knew was probably screaming at Him to run! Yet He put time rooting Himself in God above listening to what the world was saying.

Which story are you listening to- God’s, or the world’s?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, The Good News for the day is not the World News but that YOU have overcome the world. Thank You Jesus for saving me. Amen
