Warfare of Praise

Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. Psalm 24:8

Many of us have watched documentaries on historical wars; The American Revolutionary War, World War I and II, Vietnam War, Gulf War. Some of you have been the heroes and protectors of this nation and have sacrificially fought as defenders of freedom. We thank you. When conflict and struggle arise and the enemy is unrelenting, we are drawn into armed combat and we had better be alert and ready. No soldier goes into battle without first suiting up, having a solid plan of operation and maintaining a clear objective.

The Christian life is a battle. A war between the sovereignty of the Most High God and our enemy; Satan and his henchmen. An enemy who seeks to devour, destroy and decimate the very ones God created for His good pleasure; you and I. (1 Peter 5:8) How do you fight this battle? Through praise and worship!

When we worship the Lord in difficulties, He becomes the lifter of our head. (Psalm 3:1-4) We do not have to walk through life despondent and victimized. Never lose sight of your Commander-in-Chief; the Lord God Almighty is His Name! Worshiping makes God BIG in your heart and shifts your focus off of the enemy and onto the Conqueror. (Revelation 12:10-11) Why not take a moment today to reflect deeply upon God’s majesty? Place your battles into that scene of greatness. Everything changes, doesn’t it? When we place our troubles in the realm of the Almighty, the enemy is defeated as we stand in the power of ´El Shaddai. Victory rests with the LORD.

Prayer
Lord I am keeping my eyes on You, my Strength and my Defender. I arm myself with praise and hold Your promises close. You are faithful and true for “greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world.” In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
