Keep Seeking the Lord
“Lift up your heads, you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.” Psalm 24:7
The psalmist writes what it means to be a true follower of God. We must have clean hands and a pure heart. We must not have lifted our soul to an idol, nor sworn deceitfully. Uh-oh, is this a problem? More than likely all of us have not stuck with this description of a true believer. So what does that mean for us? We know in order to have salvation we must be a believer. Does this mean we will not have salvation? The psalmist then goes on saying we are the ones who seek the Lord’s presence. This we can buy. God is always present, and the Lord promised us in Matthew that He would be with us until the end of the age. He will stand by us, and work to turn everything for good. We need to continuously seek Him by setting our hearts and minds on Him. We need to put our trust and faith in Him. He should come before all else. We are able to seek Him through different ways such as prayer, His Word, baptism, and communion. It is important to share His presence, so that others may seek Him as well.
We do not have clean hands, or pure hearts; but God allows us to seek an incredible Lord who has given grace to us. This grace washes over us, and it makes our hands clean and hearts pure. So yes, we have salvation because of the Lord’s grace given to us.
Prayer
Lord God, we come to You with unclean hands and impure hearts. We praise You for giving us Your grace, which washes over us, and makes us clean. May we continuously seek You to know Your presence, and help us to share Your presence with others. Thank You for promising to be with us until the end of the age. Amen
