Left Turn Alignment
“Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.” Psalm 143:10
Recently our car started drifting to the left indicating a needed wheel alignment. The funny thing about a misalignment is that your car can drift to one side, even when you think you’re driving straight. When your wheels are out of alignment, your tires aren’t pointing in the right direction. This can affect the steering, suspension, the durability of your tires; even your safety. The solution of course is to bring the vehicle to the auto repair shop and have the wheels properly aligned.
We’ve heard the expression, “Well that took a left turn!” The expression often refers to an unexpected change in events; typically of an unfavorable nature. Has your life taken a left turn lately? Has your alignment with the purposes and will of the Lord started to point you in the wrong direction?
Perhaps it’s time to return to your Manufacturer and ask Him to realign your spiritual tires. It only takes a minuscule amount of misalignment to have a huge impact on your life. Here are a few road hazards that may indicate it’s time for a “life” alignment:
1) Pot holes: Conditions outside of your control will adversely affect you. You will be going along when “bam!” you hit a pot hole that rocks your world. Remember pot holes are temporary inconveniences; you’ve been given victory to overcome life’s unexpected bumps in the road (1 John 5:4)
2) Hitting the curb: Improper judgement can causes you to rub up against a hard surface and scrape your spiritual tires. Be kind, gentle and show grace and mercy just as the Lord God has done for you. (Ephesians 4:32)
3) Bumping into concrete parking stalls: Sometimes we are moving forward far too fast and simply not paying attention. We’re in a rush to nowhere and stressed to get there. Take a step back, breathe and wait on the Lord. (Romans 15:4)
4) Life’s wear and tear: Just being human in a world of imperfection can wear you down. There will always be struggles, disappointments, and unexpected situations or circumstances that will drain your energy and challenge your faith. When these situation arise, return to the Master and find rest. (Matthew 11:28)
Prayer
Lord I return to You and ask that You align me with Your purposes and will, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
