Jesus Brings Progress to All
Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people. Proverbs 14:34
The well-known atheist Madalyn Murray O’Hair once said, ‘Nothing good has ever come from Christianity. And if Christianity hasn’t, in fact, done good and produced good we must reject it.’ Even Jesus Himself said, ‘You shall know them by their fruits’ (Matthew 7:16). But with every word of Jesus that’s been preached, lives have been transformed and incredible good done for society. Take science, for example. As one expert pointed out, science could never have originated in any other culture. It couldn’t possibly have originated in the Muslim culture because of its belief in fatalism, which absolutely prevents any concept of scientific progress. Nor could it have originated among the Buddhists, or the Hindus of Asia, because of their belief that the physical world isn’t real, that nothing exists but God, and that all this is merely imagination. Only through Christianity could science have come to be! Think about those who have gone into the slums to rescue the derelict, like the Salvation Army, the City Mission, and the YMCA. Christians have given themselves to such people as these. Today with the removal of Scripture from much of our culture, we’re seeing decay and corruption set in. So what’s the answer? Jesus said, ‘You are the salt of the earth’ (Matthew 5:13). So get your saltshaker out and start spreading the life-changing truth of God’s Word! Jesus also said, ‘You are the light of the world’ (v. 14). There’s not enough darkness in the whole world to extinguish the light of one small candle. So let your light shine.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me by Your Grace bring good to so many who are hurting and bring Your light to those who are sitting in darkness. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
Dear Tim,
I enjoy and am enriched by the daily devotions from LCC. I occasionally share insights that you present in letters to prisoners – we have an active Prison Pen Pall ministry at Concordia in Conover.
Re: Devotion for 03/26/19 – I respectfully suggest that the statement, “science could never have originated in any other culture.” ( . . .Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu …) is not true. The foundations for much math, chemistry, astronomy, and physics were laid in the Mid and Far East. However, there is much to be said for the fact that progress (technology and science) seems to have flourished in “Christian nations”, much of it developed by non-Christians, most likely. “God lets the rain fall on the just and the unjust”. (The justified in Christ and the unjustified in Christ.). Example: the Nazi regime in Germany was neck and neck with the USA in developing nuclear power. (The regime also carried out horrendous genetic research)
“Only through Christianity could science have come to be!” . . . better stated, perhaps, “Science came to be at the moment of God’s creation.” . . . Which is also the time when He created man with the ability to unfold the “Wonders of His Universe”.
The concluding discussion seems to be unconnected to the science section. (those who have gone into the slums …)
Having stated my thoughts on only one devotion, I need to reiterate how much I appreciate your sharing the daily devotions. There are many that are strengthening and enriching to me. So “rock on” for your readers . . . Your batting average is about as good as Ivory Soap . . . 99.44% pure! (Mine should be so good!)
Keep a joyful own ringing in your heart to the Lord!

Good point about science and Christianity.
I post these on our church web site and have noticed that not as many people open this with your logo on it. More people opened the devotions when the picture for the devotion came up.
