“But as for me, I will sing about your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love, for you have been my refuge, a place of safety, when I am in distress.” Psalm 59:16
Hi, everyone. Happy Friday. I’m finishing my week up at Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where LCC had a booth at The Lutheran Church—
Missouri Synod National Convention. And it truly was an honor to be here, to be able to share with so many people the great work that the Lord is doing through LCC, but also to connect with so many other ministries that are going on and learning more about what they’re doing, as well as getting an opportunity to put my arm around some longtime friends and colleagues and reconnect. All I keep thinking about, whenever I go to these things and see folks that I have known for a long time but haven’t seen for a long time, I just keep thinking about what’s ahead and the joy of heaven.
One of the things that I want to lead you with into this weekend is Psalm 59:16, and I hope that you will take time to do just this: that you will recount the Lord’s power and His grace and the great things that He has done in your life, the things that He is still yet to do, and so would you hear these words from Psalm 59:16 and let it be a prayer for you this weekend?
“But as for me, I will sing about your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love, for you have been my refuge, a place of safety, when I am in distress.”
No matter what storm may be brewing up in your life, or maybe currently one that you’re going through, you have a safe place and a refuge in your Savior Jesus, and I pray that you would find that refuge and enjoy the security and the safety of His love and His strength and His power, and that you would actually lift a song of praise this weekend to Him.
Prayer
Would you join me in a word of prayer? Lord, we thank You so much for being that rock and that refuge for us. At times, this world can bring all kinds of different types of storms, and yet, You provide that refuge and that safety and that shelter for us. And Lord, we do, we sing every morning about Your great works and we thank You for what You’re doing, what You have done, and what You have yet to do. And so, as we go into this weekend, would You lead us, would You guide us, would You protect us, and would You grant to us a voice and a heart that lifts up praise to You each and every morning? We ask this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
Everybody, have a great weekend. Go and serve someone this weekend, would you? God bless you.
Hi, Pastor Singer!
I’m Victoria Corbett. My husband is Jerry Corbett, Pastor at St. Thomas Lutheran in Eastpointe, MI. I loved today’s Daily Devotion, and I posted your prayer on my Facebook page – I DID credit your name. I hope you don’t mind. Have a safe and blessed weeked – your week has been SO busy!
Great thoughts ! Opening hymn this Sunday, “The God of Abraham Praise!”
Have a safe flight home
This was such a wonderful devotional for me this weekend. I’m going through two stressful things tonight and Monday morning with my daughters one is for travel, mercies and protection, and the other is for upcoming surgery on Monday. I have to keep my eyes fixed on Jesus constantly, because I am a worrier, God bless you and thank you
