“But if we confess our sins, he will forgive our sins. We can trust God. He does what is right. He will make us clean from all the wrongs we have done.” 1 John 1:9 ICB
Hi, everyone. Happy Friday. I hope that you have a fantastic weekend. And as you go into this weekend, I want to remind you of one of the opportunities that God presents for us to get clean. I remember as a child, I had tried to jump across this muddy ravine and I, of course, didn’t come close, I landed right smack in the middle of this muddy rainwater.
I still recall that long walk home. It was several blocks. My clothes were absolutely heavy from the mud. It smelled. It was gross. And of course, I kept thinking, what is my mom going to say when she sees me like this? But when I got there, my mom said, “Let’s get those clothes off you, let’s get you cleaned up and get you into the bath.”
And, you know, I came out clean. She washed my clothes. They were clean, and all was set right again. You know, I don’t know what maybe you have fallen into. Maybe a sinful pattern, maybe a sin that has happened in your life. And there’s no reason for you to continue walking around in those dirty rags. Instead, because of Jesus, you had the opportunity to go and confess your sins. A broken and contrite spirit, the Lord says, is what brings to Him pleasure.
And so I encourage you this weekend to make sure you take time with your Savior, take time to get clean. As you confess your sins to Him, He is faithful and just and will cleanse you from all unrighteousness.
Have a great weekend. God’s blessings to you, and may the Lord be with you as you go into your day.
