“If the Son sets you free, then you are free. Free indeed.” John 8:36

Happy Friday, everyone. I pray that you had an incredible Thanksgiving, a blessed Thanksgiving.

We finished an incredible week with LCC as we spent time earlier on this week with our Lutheran educators on the West Coast. I pray that each and every one of you as educators are enjoying your time off. And thank you for what you do. Thank you for the way that you serve our children. And I know that it can be tiring and exhausting. And I hope that you’re catching some rest this Thanksgiving celebration. Especially time with family. I pray each and every one of you are enjoying that opportunity together with those that you love.

You know, you may be reading this on what’s known as Black Friday. It had some beginnings to it, but where it ends up being defined is that day when retailers are hoping they can move from the red into the black because of great sales.

Well, you know, it’s kind of an interesting parallel to what we actually get to celebrate every day, not just on something called Black Friday. And that is that we have the opportunity to celebrate the freedom that we have from all of our debts, from all of our sins. And that’s exactly what Jesus was talking about in John 8:36, when He told the folks what it meant to move from this condition of debt and into this celebrated life of freedom.

This is what He said, “If the Son sets you free, then you are free. Free indeed.” (John 8:36) And I pray that you are celebrating that freedom, not just today, but every day. And I do hope you get a few good sale prices in there, too. Let’s go to God and pray as we thank Him for all the many great things that He has done, the great things that He is doing today, and the things that are still to come.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, we give You great thanks for all of Your goodness and all of Your faithfulness to us. We thank You that You have paid our debt by sending Your son Jesus. And as we have trusted and believed in Him, our sins have been forgiven. The debt has been paid. And we are free. Free indeed. We thank You and live as Your forgiven and free people this weekend. Bless us now, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
