“Forget all of that, because I’m about to do something new” Isaiah 43:18-19

Happy Friday, everyone. It’s hard to believe that we’re getting ready to turn the corner to another year. 2024 is just ahead. I was reminded as I was thinking about moving forward and looking into next year that there’s actually a Bible verse that actually ties into the New Year theme. The Lord is talking to His people and He talks about the time when He had rescued them through the Red Sea and drowned Pharaoh and all of his armies. And then He says, in Isaiah 43:18-19, “Forget all of that, because I’m about to do something new.” That’s a new thing.

And Paul echoes something similar in Philippians, where he says, “Forgetting what is behind, I strain forward to what is ahead.” I want to encourage you as you get ready to move into 2024, to forget what is behind and to strain forward to what God has for you. It’s something new, and what is best is yet to come. And we’re anticipating that day when Jesus calls us home.
