“See how very much our father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are!” 1 John 3:1
Hey, dads, from one to another, Happy Father’s Day. Thank you for all the love and leadership you give into our homes, our church, and our communities. It isn’t an easy job, and yet one that we count blessed to have. And to everyone on this Father’s Day weekend – Happy Friday! We have a chance to pause and celebrate the wonderful creation and design for us as humans through the gift of fatherhood.
For many, this will be a day of fond remembrance and gratitude. It may also be a day for sorrow and hurt for some. For all those who never knew or didn’t have a dad, or those whose father was less than what God intended, or for all who are remembering their dads at the cemetery today, prayers are lifted to the perfect Father in heaven for you, and may all of us consider ourselves beyond blessed to be able to say that we are children of the Heavenly Father. Thanks be to His son.
So, to all the dads and granddads – Happy Father’s Day, especially to our Heavenly Father who has given us His one and only Son. 1 John 3:1 says, “See how very much our father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are!”
Prayer
Heavenly father, we wish You a Happy Father’s Day today, and we thank You that You are the Father of all good things, the giver of all good gifts.
And You have given to us, fathers. We pray for those who are hurting this day, for those who may not have known their fathers or had an absent father, or a difficult relationship with their father. We do remember all those who mourn for the loss of their father, and we celebrate, Lord, the gift of fatherhood. We thank You for our fathers, we thank You for the roles that they actively play.
We pray that You would encourage fathers who are struggling and hurting. We pray that You would give them great encouragement to continue to rise up, and to play the role, and to be the brave and bold servants of Your love to families, communities and to all. We pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
