“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Think about the things of heaven, not on the things of earth…For your life is now in and is with Christ and will land with Him in glory.” (Colossians 3:1-4)
Whenever you board an airplane and prepare for your flight there is typically an announcement made stating the destination. I have often laughed to myself when the announcement includes a line that sounds like this: “If this is not your intended destination please gather your belongings and exit the plane at this time.”
I wondered if this actually happens? Google it. Missing your intended destination happens more often than you might think.
While missing your intended destination for a trip may be inconvenient, the truth is that missing your intended destination for eternal life is final.
So imagine as you get settled into your day today you hear this announcement,
“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Think about the things of heaven, not on the things of earth…For your life is now in and is with Christ and will land with Him in glory.” (Colossians 3:1-4)
Check your heart, mind, and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you today with that eternal destination in mind. Following Jesus leads to the eternal life He has won for you.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, may you check our position today, our destination today. Where are we intending to go? Are we involved with things that are leading us to the wrong destination? Then Lord, would You help us to gather our things and to step off that flight and instead bring us onto Your plan and Your flight with Your intended destination, flown by our pilot, our loving Savior Jesus. It’s in His Name we pray. Amen.
