Happy Friday everyone. You know, there are so many things that can cause us to be afraid right now going on in this world. Natural disaster, high prices and inflation, political turmoil, countries going to war, sickness, pestilence.
So many things that can cause us just to want to shut the door and pull down the drapes and hide out. But the reality is, is that Jesus comes to us at just a time such as this, and these words are what He says to us, “Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows, but take heart because I have overcome the world.”
Prayer
Lord Jesus, would You remind us that You are on the throne, that You rule over this life and over this world, and that You have already overcome all evil, all the things that would frighten us or threaten us? You have overcome them all, including our worst enemy, death.
We thank You for that. And would You fill us with that peace and confidence as we go into this weekend? And would You help us to share with others the reason why we have this confidence and peace? It’s because of You. We pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
I find the words “God is in control” whenever we have turmoil, riots, floods, disasters, killings, wars, nations fighting nations, health conditions, loss of loved ones….and the list goes on. We have to discern and establish the difference when we say “God is in control” compared to “God is in charge”, “God is responsible for this”, God is this but not that, where are you God, please help? Then we are reminded to be still and know that God is God, the great I am….so quiet on the set please!
We look at the recent devastation and destruction in the southeast…be thankful for Samaritan’s Purse and the American Red Cross for arriving first, but the first looks and views of tragedy are literally unbearable. We ask why did this happen, why did it have to happen, for what reason(s)?
We watch the “LIVE” reports from home, we squirm in our Laz-y-boys, we know these people.
What needs to change?
Turn our hearts to Jesus, keep praying, donate when asked for help, keep praying for people!
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble….believe!
