Happy Friday, everyone! The Scriptures encourages you to give sin your resignation. Give God your application. Romans 6:13 says, “Give yourselves completely to God. For you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God.”
One Christian took this to heart and wrote the following letter. He addressed it to the ‘Governing General of the Universe’. He writes, “Dear sir, I hereby resign my self-appointed position of directing superintendent of my own life and of the world. I cannot level all the mountains of injustice, nor fill in all the valleys of selfishness. There is too much of it in me. I hereby turn over to you for your disposition and use, my life, my money, my time, and talents to be at your disposal. Signed, Your Obedient Servant.”
May we all go into this weekend mindful of whose we are, and be obedient to His control, His authority, and His blessing in our lives.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, we can get so consumed with our own thinking and our own ways, and our own issues of controlling and decisions in our lives. Yet the reality is that we cannot handle all of the things that are in our lives, that are in our hearts. Things that need to be overcome, things that need to be changed, things that need to be directed, wisdom that needs to be attained.
But in You, we have it all. And so bless us and keep us in Your tender care. And allow us to submit our lives and surrender our control to Your leadership and authority as we live out the days that You have blessed us with. And it’s in Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
