“And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love.” (Romans 5:5)
Happy Friday, everyone! Hope is acknowledging that God is faithful, steadfast, and true. God is faithful in the past, steadfast in the present, true in the future to keeping His promises. Hope for Christians means that we can look forward to the future, for God is true in keeping His promises. God hasn’t broken one single promise that He has made.
When God speaks, His word means something. He’s not going to be persuaded by what may or may not be popular in today’s culture. He won’t be manipulated or coerced to concede truth and justice to anyone. He’s not bargained with by some well-meaning kind or religious tradition of man. Instead, He is true to keeping all of His promises. And therefore not only do we place our hope in Christ, but it is hope in Christ that will not lead to regret.
Listen to how the Apostle Paul explains this in Romans 5:5, “And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love.”
As we go into this weekend, we know how dearly God loves us. We see that love through Christ and therefore we live our lives this weekend with the strength for today that cannot be shaken, and a bright hope for tomorrow.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, our hope is in You. Each and every promise made is true in You, and therefore, we will not be persuaded to find strength for today and hope for tomorrow in anyone else – except for You. Thank You for being our hope. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
