Hey everyone, happy Friday! We’ve been spending a lot of time in California helping those who are suffering in need from the devastating wildfires. At one point in the fight against these wildfires, there was a real excitement about cooler temperatures and a little bit more moisture in the air to bring down some of those flames and to give firefighters an opportunity to get those flames contained.
It really got me thinking about the wildfire that we have going on in our culture and all around us every day. For some of us, it’s just out in the bigger sense of our community, but for others of us, it may be within our family or within even our church home. What do you do when those wildfires seem like they’re just taking everything away?
Well, we’re reminded that cooler temperatures come in the word ‘love’. In fact, 1 Corinthians 13:8 says, “Love never fails”. At times it can feel as though maybe, perhaps it’s just a little bit of a sprinkle on top of a flame. But remember, Jesus promises us that love never fails, and he proved it when he went to the cross.
And not even death could stop his love for us and for you.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, as we go into this weekend, we do in so many ways in this world, have wildfires all around us. There’s wildfires and unrest and hatred and anger and hurt and depression. And it seems sometimes Lord like we can’t make a difference, but remind us and inspire within us the faith from Your death and resurrection, where You prove that love will never fail.
You made sure that love goes on for eternity. You gave that love to us, and now would You help us to give that love to others this weekend? In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
