Helping the Tired – February 10, 2025

2025-02-10 PCS

“Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.” (Matthew 10:8)

The news feed celebrated the work of Colorado Parks and Wildlife officers as they helped a bull elk who was tired, and I mean literally TIRE-d. You see, the bull elk had a tire around its neck for more than two years. The article celebrated the work of those wildlife officers because they not only saw the evidence of this animal being tired and tangled, they actually did something to bring relief and freedom.

It’s one thing to point out someone is tired and maybe seeing their tired condition, seeing them tangled up or struggling. It’s a whole other thing to assist them and help them discover relief and freedom. So who do you see around you that is tired? Who have you found to be tangled up in something that has them settling for a life of burden? Would you be willing to assist them?

Jesus is looking for heroes who will be part of his wildlife team. “Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give. (Matthew 10:8) If you’re ready for a tire change and some freedom from the sin that so easily entangles, then perhaps it’s time for you to join Jesus on His team and take the opportunity to not only recognize someone who is tired and tangled but to serve them with an act of mercy and to help them find the freedom that you have received from Jesus.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, again, we are so mindful of Your plan of salvation for people. You are close to those who are brokenhearted. Your heart longs for those who are struggling, those who are tangled, those who are tired.

You gave to us that freedom from our sin in Jesus. You were looking for those who will now receive that and again be a blessing to others to help them find and discover that same relief by giving testimony to You, and by walking along with others and helping them through their difficulties.

Help us to live that way this week. We pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
