Happy Friday, everyone! James 1:19 says, “Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.”
‘Listen quick’ is what the writer of James 1:19 sells us. Sometimes we’re so quick to tell people things and yet very slow to hear things from people. The truth is, if we don’t listen to truly hear others, we lose the right to speak to them.
But we lose the right to speak to them, we lose the chance to be heard. When we lose the chance to be heard, we then lose the chance to share salvation. And when we lose the chance to share salvation, we lose our mission.
So let’s go into this weekend being quick to listen. And don’t listen for ways to be right, listen for ways to care.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, help me this weekend as I go into my days ahead and as I encounter people. Lord, move within me with patience that I might be quick to listen and to truly hear others so that then I do have the right to speak, and I will have the right to be heard, and the right to share Your salvation with those who need it.
Bless us this weekend as we serve You. And thank You, Jesus, for always listening to us. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Thank you, Pastor Chris, for this important message. Those who don’t have a personal relationship with Jesus, can only hear the Gospel after they know we care for them personally. Even when they don’t want to hear it, the seed has been planted. Prayerfully the Holy Spirit will water it and His light will bring It to life in His due season.
