Reach Out – May 16, 2025

Happy Friday, everyone! The Four Tops once sang, “Reach out, reach out for me. I’ll be there, with a love that will shelter you. I’ll be there, with a love that will see you through.” I really like that song. But that could just as well be God’s own words to you today.

He’s not just near—He’s with you.
He’s not just aware—He’s active in your life.

We hear from Psalm 46:1, “God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble.”

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time when we pause to acknowledge the silent struggles that many carry: anxiety, depression, grief, stress. They don’t always show on the surface, but they’re real. And in those moments of inner trouble, Psalm 46:1 brings that promise that we all need: “God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in times of trouble.”

Be assured that you’re not alone. God is not far off, or waiting for you to get it together. He’s close. He’s constant, and He’s capable of walking with you through every storm.

I want to encourage you this weekend: for those who are in need of help, reach out. Reach out in prayer. Have those arms of God wrap around you in that time. Reach out to someone who cares, and believe that when you do, the God of all comfort will meet you there—with love strong enough to shelter you and grace deep enough to see you through.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, during this Mental Health Awareness Month, we lift up those carrying burdens that feel too heavy to bear alone. Thank You for Your ever present help in times of trouble—for being our refuge, for being our strength.

Give peace to those with anxious hearts and minds. Bring healing to those who are wounded. And Lord, grant hope and healing to those who are hurting.

Help us to reach out to You and to one another with compassion and with the love that You have for us. Thank You for always being there. Remind us of that truth today.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
