Confidence in God – May 30, 2025

Happy Friday, everyone! Psalm 57:7 says, “My heart is confident in You, O God; my heart is confident. No wonder I can sing Your praises.”

What’s powerful about this verse isn’t just the confidence—it’s the context. You see, David wrote these words while hiding in a cave, running for his life. He wasn’t safe. He certainly wasn’t comfortable. But still, his heart was confident.

Not in his circumstances. Not in his strength—but in God.

Confidence allows us to sing—not because life is easy, but because God is steady. When your heart is anchored in who God is, not in what’s going on, you can sing—even when things are uncertain, even when the week has been heavy.

So here’s a practical way to switch your confidence from your circumstances to God:

First, name the circumstance, but claim the truth. When something feels shaky—your job, your health, your relationships—be honest. Name it. But then, speak a truth about God in response:

• “I don’t know how the situation will turn out, but I know God is with me.”
• Or, “I feel overwhelmed, but I trust that God is my strength.”
• “This week was messy, but His mercy is new every morning.”

So let your confidence this weekend come not from what’s around you, but from who He is and who He is in you—Christ Jesus, our Lord.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, we thank You so much that even though we don’t know all of the future, You do. And You have everything figured out. You have everything in control, and You have us in Your tender care.

Grant to us that confidence, because we know You. And because we know Your power, we know Your strength, we know Your forgiveness. Grant us a fantastic weekend to enjoy and live in that confidence—even though at the same time we may be experiencing painful things. Lift up our spirits and help us to sing.

In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
