Happy Friday, everyone. This morning, I’m blessed to be with our brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus at the Pacific Southwest District Convention. Each district of the church gathers during this season to elect leadership and to move conversations about ministry forward through resolutions. The theme for this particular gathering is “Redeemed to Tell.”
1 Peter 2:9 puts it beautifully, “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for His own possession. That you may proclaim the excellency of Him who called you out of darkness and into His marvelous light.”
Did you catch that? We’ve been called out of darkness into His marvelous light. Redeemed. But for what purpose? So that you may proclaim the excellence of Him who saved you. His name is Jesus. And while it’s true that we are called to endure troubled times with patience, we’re not called to merely hang on or hang in there.
We’re called to rise up, to be active in love and mercy and compassion. So to all the redeemed, all of you who belong to Jesus, tell it this weekend. Proclaim His name to your family, your friends, your neighbors, and anyone who will listen. Jesus saved us and His invitation stands for all to receive forgiveness, mercy, and new life in Him.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for redeeming us, for getting us out of the darkness and into Your light. And now help us to live out that purpose that You have now called us to and commissioned us in. That we would be active in love. That we would be faithful in trust, and that we would continue to share with others the proclamation that You, Jesus, are the Savior of the world.
We pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
