“My Father is always at His work to this very day, and I too am working.” (John 5:17)

Jesus once told a parable: “The Kingdom of God is like a farmer who scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how.” (Mark 4:26)
Sometimes all we see is dirt. We pray, but it feels silent. We work and wonder if it really matters.
We look around at our lives, our culture, our world, and all we seem to see is discouragement, loss, or decay. But the Kingdom of God is not idle. Even when we can’t see His hand, God is still at work—underground, in the dark, in the quiet, in the mystery of the how—the seed is growing, the Kingdom is growing, the Spirit is moving.
Just because we don’t see results doesn’t mean God isn’t doing something remarkable. The farmer doesn’t know how the seed grows. He can’t explain it. He just trusts it will. And so can we.
Jesus said, “My Father is always at His work to this very day, and I too am working.” (John 5:17) So when the soil looks barren and the waiting feels long, hold fast. God’s Kingdom is never still. Don’t lose heart. Even when you don’t see it, God is working. He’s always doing more than we can see.
Prayer
Faithful God, we confess how often we get discouraged by what we can’t see. Help us to trust that You are working—even in the silence, even in the slow, even in the soil. Give us confidence to keep sowing, keep praying, and keep believing. In the name of Jesus, who brings life from what looks like death, we pray these things. Amen.
