More In His Hands – October 31, 2025

Happy Friday, everyone. In Luke 9:16, we read, “Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, Jesus gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples to distribute to the people.” This, of course, is the story of the feeding of the 5,000, and it was this story that came to mind this week.

I met with my team to go over our all-team planning and vision day, and there was one truth from the day that stood out. More is being asked of us. More help. More hope. More healing. More compassion for a world that is feeling so stretched thin. And perhaps, maybe as you look around at your time, your resources, or your strength, you feel, “I just don’t have enough.”

Well, then look with me now at this boy. This boy who’s standing there before Jesus. He doesn’t have enough. He simply has five loaves and two fish. Certainly not enough to feed that crowd. A crowd of 5,000 people! What he held in his hands was not even close to being able to meet the need. Yet, when he placed what little he had into Jesus’ hands, it became more than enough.

And that’s the miracle that we live in still today, too. The Lord still takes what we have – our time, our energy, our care – and he multiplies it for His purpose. He’s not asking for perfection. He’s just asking for our trust. So, this weekend, as the world feels hungry and the needs around us continue to grow, can I just encourage you?

Don’t stop helping. Keep entrusting what the Lord has given you back into His hands and watch Him multiply it again and again. Keep feeding those around you with help, with hope, with healing, and with His love.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, take what little we have and make it more than enough. Remind us that when we place our lives in Your hands, You provide in ways beyond our ability. Multiply our compassion, our courage, and our trust for Your glory and for the good of those You love. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
