As this year draws to a close, I want to invite you to be a part of the good work God is doing through Lutheran Church Charities. Every devotion, every deployment, every act of comfort and care happens because of generous partners like you.
You can visit the link in this email or click below in the comments to go to our 12/31 BEHIND EVERY GOOD DEED page and make your year-end gift. Your support helps share the mercy, compassion, presence, and proclamation of Jesus Christ where compassion cannot wait.
You know, the Christmas season brings beauty, joy, and so many good deeds. Gifts exchanged, cards sent, meals shared, and time carved out for worship, for family, and for reaching out to those in need.
But if you trace every good and perfect gift all the way back, it leads to a manger. Christmas is about Jesus, the Savior. His love and salvation are behind every gift that matters. There, wrapped not in ribbons, but in swaddling cloths, is the indescribable gift of God: Jesus, our Redeemer.
Heaven’s generosity in human flesh.
And because of His salvation, Jesus now moves through us so that behind every good deed of love and service, others experience the joy of Christ.
Paul says it this way: “This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people, but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God. Thanks be to God for this indescribable gift.” (2 Corinthians 9:12, 15)
You see, every act of generosity is not just provision. It’s praise. And it flows from the ultimate generosity of Christ.
Our acts of service meet real needs and stir deep expressions of thanksgiving to God from those we serve.
At Lutheran Church Charities, every gift of love we extend is because of the gift of love we’ve received.
And behind every good deed in our ministry are the faithful volunteers who serve on our 152 K-9, disaster response, hearts of mercy and compassion and human care affiliate teams. These men and women give sacrificially of their time, treasure and talent to reach those who are suffering and in need. They don’t just represent our mission, they embody it.
And because of your donations, their presence and service has truly meant that hurting hearts are filled with hope and healing abounds to the point of overflowing praise to Jesus.
So this week, as we celebrate the birth of Christ, pause to consider this. Behind every good deed you’ve given or received, there’s a cross-shaped heartbeat that started in a manger.
Prayer
Jesus, thank You for coming into our world to give the greatest gift, Yourself. Help us reflect that gift in the way we love, serve, and give. May Your presence fill not only our celebrations, but also our actions. Behind every good deed we offer, may You be seen. Amen.
