Worth – Part 4

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. Matthew 10:29

Life can be wonderful. To live on a world like ours, with all its wonder and complexity and joy, is a great gift. But sometimes life doesn’t seem like a gift. Sometimes it can feel like an empty, friendless place. Jesus said, ‘Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will.’ God knows when you fall, and His will is to lift you up again. Perhaps you were flying high and – boom – life knocked your wings, and you were left in the cold. A mistake. A secret. A betrayal. An illness. A death. Life has a funny habit of stealing the wind beneath your wings. Maybe you feel wing-clipped and you can’t ever see yourself in the sky again. Your past or your fears are keeping you on the ground. God’s an expert at throwing birds back into the sky. Simon Peter’s wings were clipped by guilt and regret. He denied Jesus three times. God restored him to his destiny – and Peter became one of the leaders in the Christian Church. Jonah fell through disobedience. His destiny was returned when he finally called Nineveh to repentance. Paul was in a high position with the Jewish leadership while killing Christians – and zap – on the road of Damascus he was grounded and then eventually lifted up to be a great Evangelist. The battle isn’t over your past, it’s over your future. God isn’t looking to point the finger today; He’s looking to restore your destiny. He wants you to fly again.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me the wind beneath my wings and for lifting me up. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
