God Only Knows

How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! Psalm139:17

How many times have we said, in overwhelming exasperating, “God only knows…?” “God only knows what we’re going to do.” “God only knows what will become of him or her.” “God only knows if we’re going to make it.” “God only knows what’s going to happen.” We use this expression as a form of defeat and frustration, but what if you looked deeper into what God really knows about you?

  1. God Knows… the activities of your life; your routines and what you do. He is always near.
    (vs.2)
  2. God Knows… your thoughts long before you ever verbalize them. He in tuned into you and He listens. (vs.2)
  3. God Knows… all about your life, your needs and where your heart is, at any given moment, in all situations and circumstances. He is always present. (vs.4)
  4. God Knows…everything you say; words spoken in faith and words spoken in fear.
  5. God Knows… everything you need!
  6. God Knows… YOU!

Yes, God knows you intimately and completely and He has promised to always be near you. He made you, cares for you and is right now thinking of you. David opens Psalm 139 by saying, “You have searched me, LORD, and you know me.” How utterly amazing to try and grasp; the very God of all creation, He who is enthroned in the heavens, knows you! David was so taken back by this realization that he concluded, “Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. (vs.6). David marvels “when I awake, I am still with you.” (vs.18). Even when you are asleep and are not aware of God’s presence, He is still there watching over you. When you open your eyes in the morning God is there to smile, say good morning and remind you that He is near. When you wake up tomorrow morning, take His hand and be encouraged; God knows you!

Prayer
Father, like King David I am overwhelmed by such incomprehensible love that flows freely from You. You know me intimately and completely and I can rest in the knowledge that You are for me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

  1. God really does know our thoughts! Seriously, I was praying today and I began thinking about how is it possible that God is able to hear everyone. I began to think how can this be? I just can’t comprehend it. I am embarrassed to say that doubt started to creep in. But, Isn’t our God amazing? He heard my thoughts and gave me reassurance in your devotion. Such knowledge is to wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain as David said. I have now turned my doubt to praise! Thanks.
