Set Apart For a Special Purpose

Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. Psalm 139:16

Before you were ever conceived, the Lord was intimately acquainted with you. He knew you, loved you and put in motion a plan for your life. Each one of us has been set apart for a special purpose. God has gifted us and called us to be channels of His love, compassion, mercy, and grace. The old saying, “God doesn’t make no junk” is an interesting thought. The better saying might be, “Our sin causes us to become junk, but love’s redemption allows Christ to turn us into His treasure.” The Lord uses us in spite of ourselves. We are nothing without Him yet in His great plan He calls us to something greater than ourselves. He takes our weaknesses, pride, imaginings, and rebellion and lovingly, patiently transforms us into priceless vessels in His hand. He is Jehovah God, the Creator of all things. He is omnipotent and His power can never be exceeded. And yet in His majesty and grandeur He still desires a personal relationship with each one of us. No wonder King David said “Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.” (Psalm 139:6).

Where we get tripped up is when we assume that the Bible account of God’s called servants is somehow reserved for supernatural people with skill sets that we, as ordinary people, do not possess. This is not true. We are ALL ordinary people called by an extraordinary God! Each one of us has a purpose in the hand of God. Psalm 139 is a reminder to all of us that it is by God’s design that we have a calling, a purpose, and a place in the marvelous redemptive plan of God’s Kingdom.

Don’t allow the evil one to deceive you. Earnestly seek the Lord’s face and ask Him to reveal to you the place of your divine assignment; then get busy!

Prayer
Lord give me a vision for my life that I might move boldly in Your power and allow You to do Your perfect work through me, an imperfect being. Take me, bend me, mold me and use me. I am Your servant and You are my God; forever I will bless Your Name. Amen.
