Hurt
All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
HURT. You have it and so do I. How we handle it, that is what’s important.
Here are three considerations for handling hurt:
1. Denying hurt is only delaying healing.
Denying that you hurt may look good on movie screens and competitions but will only delay the necessary healing needed. Instead, we initiate healing the moment we acknowledge our hurt to God, to ourselves, and to friends or professionals who are safe and trusted.
2. Every hurt can heal when it’s in the right hands.
I once found myself with a hurt that brought so much pain and anger I yelled out the Lord, “I can’t do this!” And I heard the Lord say back to me, “That’s right! You can’t but I can. You can’t handle your hurt, but I will.”
Take your hurt to Jesus. His hands accepted all of the sin and hurt of this entire world upon the cross and He solved them there that day. The proof of resolution came in His resurrection three days later.
3. Every hurt will be helpful when submitted to Jesus.
We may not have our hurts “solved” or “resolved” in this lifetime but that doesn’t mean that the Lord hasn’t been working. When we submit our hurt to the Lord we receive comfort from Him. That very same comfort can comfort others.
Consider 2 Corinthians 1:3-4:

There are many hurts of different sizes, different kinds, and different situations. But it is the same Lord Jesus who provides comfort for each of those different hurts.
This is discipleship. Following Jesus, being changed by Jesus, and committing to the mission of Jesus.
