That’s Why We Pray – May 3, 2024

2024-05-03 PCS

“I urge you first of all to pray for all people. Ask God to help them, intercede on their behalf and give thanks for them.” 1 Timothy 2:1

Happy Friday everyone! As we just recognized the National Day of Prayer, let’s be reminded of scripture’s encouragement to pray. Would you consider with me today 1 Timothy 2:1, “I urge you first of all to pray for all people. Ask God to help them, intercede on their behalf and give thanks for them.” Would you also consider joining me for the remainder of the weekend to pause each hour to pray for different groups of people?

We can pray for our military. We can pray for our leaders. We can pray for teachers. We can pray for doctors. We can even pray for pastors. And I’d like to start this hour off by praying for our men and women of law enforcement.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, we thank You very much that You always listen to us when we pray.

What a privilege and an honor it is to bring everything to You in prayer. And You’ve encouraged us in Your Word to pray for all people. And we want to start this prayer time in this time of prayer throughout this weekend by praying for our men and women who serve in law enforcement. We thank You for their service to our communities as they serve and protect and work to keep peace.

Would You also serve to protect them? And would You help us as a community to honor them and respect them and the authority that they play within our communities? We thank you for giving to us Your son, Jesus Christ, who ultimately has given up everything to serve us. And it’s in His name we pray. Amen.

  1. Hi, Pastor!
Sorry to intrude on your Friday – TGIF!
Regarding “This is Why We Pray”: As I was reading, I couldn’t help but recall “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”, specifically “…Take it to the Lord in prayer.” Now it’s going to be stuck in my head all day, and that’s a good thing!
Thank you for another awesome devotion.
    Have a good weekend!

    Blessings,
    Victoria
