“Look, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.” (John 1:29)
John the Baptist never tried to be the answer.
He was just a voice.
A voice in the wilderness.
A voice pointing away from himself.
“Look,” he said as he pointed to the Lamb of God.
That’s our calling, too.
We’re not the solution.
We are not the Savior.
We are a voice —— in our homes, at work, in our friendships, through suffering.
All of it sounds like this:
“I don’t have all the answers, but I know Who does.”
“I can’t fix this, but I trust the One who can.”
“Let me tell you what I’ve seen.”
Letting God be God frees us to be exactly who were called to be —— a voice pointing to Jesus.
Prayer
Jesus, thank You for carrying what we cannot. Free us from the pressure to be more than You’ve called us to be. Make us faithful voices. Clear. Humble. Honest. May our lives quietly say, “Look, the Lamb of God.” Amen.
