It’s Not About Me – August 3, 2026

“We are hard pressed on every side. But not crushed. Struck down, but not destroyed.” (2 Corinthians 4:8-9)

There are two ways to live through struggle. One says it’s about me. And that path always leads to despair.

Because if my struggle is about me, my strength, my control, my ability to fix it, then eventually I will run out.

But Scripture gives us a better frame.

Paul doesn’t deny the struggle. He simply names it.

Hard pressed, perplexed.
Struck down but not crushed.
Not abandoned.
Not destroyed.

Why?

Because the struggle is not about Paul. And it’s not about you.

Your struggle is about Him. About what God is doing, about what God is revealing, about how God is sustaining.

Letting God be God means refusing to make suffering the center, but instead, focusing on the Savior as the center of all things.

Prayer
God, forgive us for turning inward when life gets hard. Help us lift our eyes beyond ourselves. Teach us to trust that You are at work, even when we do not understand the struggle. Anchor us in You. We pray this in Your holy name. Amen.
